概要	本研究は、サラワク州の広範な地域に点在する国立公園の熱帯雨林において、マレーシア研究機関の研究者と協働し、多様な生物の分布生息状況や保護状況を、次世代ＤＮＡシーケンサーを用いたＤＮＡバーコーディングなどの先端技術を駆使して網羅的に調査し、生物多様性科学において重要な課題である熱帯雨林の生物多様性の全貌解明を目指す。また、その過程で得た知識と共に、生物多様性に関する最新の知見を整理・統合して、観光産業、遺伝子資源を利用したバイオ産業、住民の自然認識、科学・環境教育など、地域社会のさまざまな層の幅広い用途に適した情報を発信する、生物多様性情報プラットフォームの構築を目指す。さらに、それらの取り組みで得られた経験と成果に基づき、教育プログラム・社会普及プログラムを策定・実施して、生物多様性の知的資源の価値に対する認識を高め、科学的な技能を備えた人材の育成体制を確立する。
