アラル海地域における水利用効率と塩害の制御に向けた気候にレジリエントな革新的技術開発

概要	本研究は、長年にわたる綿花等の灌漑農業による大量取水により縮小したアラル海周辺において、塩性化した土壌や地下水でも生育可能な塩生植物の資源価値を探り、限界地の小規模集落でも持続的に農業を営める技術及びビジネスモデルを内部循環型塩性農業として開発・展開することを目的とする。長期間の気候データや地球観測衛星情報を用いた水循環解析を通じて、対象地域の利用可能な水資源量、蒸発散量や作物生育の状況を把握し、それらを日々の農業生産管理の実務に活用していく中で、今後想定される気候変動への適応能力を向上させる。また、塩害の進行を防ぐための灌漑排水管理、塩害が進行した土地における塩生植物の積極栽培による修復、および塩生植物の利活用を通じた、生産的で持続可能な農業を実現するために、塩分や乾燥に対する耐性や土壌塩分の除去能力、水利用効率の観点から最適な作物種の組み合わせを提案する。これにより、気候変動対策と農地塩分管理を体系的に実践教育する塩性農業の研究教育拠点を現地に構築する。
