概要	本研究は、持続可能な生物資源である天然ゴムに着目し、その産業基盤を新たに構築することを目指す。まずは、たんぱく質フリーの天然ゴム（窒素含有率０．００ｗ／ｗ％）の大量生産技術を開発し、関連する知的財産の特許化と国際標準化に取り組む。その後、たんぱく質フリー天然ゴムを用いた自動車用ゴム製品の開発、天然ゴムの生分解技術の国際標準化、環境調和型の廃水処理技術の開発によって、従来の合成ゴムに替わる天然ゴム産業と、関連する環境保全産業の創出を目指す。これらの取り組みにより自動車用ゴム製品に「化石資源由来の合成ゴム」ではなく「天然ゴム」が用いられることになれば、将来的に二酸化炭素の排出削減が見込まれる。
