概要	本研究では、①生物群集の高解像度自動観測を可能とする表層観測システム構築、②有機物粒子の沈降・滞留を決定するキープロセス解明、③過去30年間の南大洋環境と動物プランクトン群集の応答解明の３課題に取り組み、航行中の表層連続観測、停船中の鉛直観測、過去に遡った長期変動解析の革新的な手法確立を目指します。南大洋の炭素循環像を正確に把握し、多海域への展開を促進することで、将来予測の精度向上に貢献します。
